Managed Apple ID's
What is Managed Apple ID?
CSPD has been working to enable federated authentication with Azure Active Directory and a central Apple School Manager instance to provide Managed Apple ID’s for all CSPD students and Staff. Managed Apple IDs are accounts designed specifically for schools that enable students and staff to personalise their devices and access key services from Apple.
This will provide the following benefits for school-owned 1:1 Apple devices
Automated provisioning of Managed Apple IDs for Students and Staff
Streamlined authorisation for Managed Apple IDs using Azure for authentication and MFA
And the following key Apple Education Features:
iCloud. Managed Apple IDs receive 200 GB of storage primarily for iCloud Backup. Students and teachers can also share files and folders in iCloud Drive.
Shared iPad Mode. This allows schools to share iPads with multiple students, and each student can log in to the iPad to get their own experience and customisation.
• Access to iCloud services. iCloud services include Shared iPad, iCloud Drive, Photos, Safari, Notes, News, Calendars, Reminders, and Backup.
• Schoolwork. Class rosters created in Apple School Manager are automatically available in Schoolwork. Student progress reporting can optionally be enabled in Apple School Manager.
• iWork collaboration. Teachers and students in
the same organization can collaborate with iWork and Notes.
• Books, including books purchased in bulk, can be assigned to Managed Apple IDs.
